Club FRED begins Thursdays, Sept. 21, 4-6:15pm

Club FRED  (Food, Recreation, Education, Discussion)

Last year, we began the outreach  ministry of Club FRED.  Over the course of the school year there were over 35 students enrolled.

Club FRED will held on Thursdays from 4:00-6:15pm when the GLSD is in session, starting on       September 21st.  Bus transportation from LES will be provided.  Students will receive a snack, a short recreation time, and an hour to complete any homework, study for tests (Friday is a big test day!), practice number facts or sight words, write essays, or listen to a story.  At 5:45pm, students’ families are invited to join their student for a meal served family style in Fellowship Hall at the cost of $1.00 per person.  All families are invited to attend the Thursday evening worship service.

Once again, the Greater Latrobe School District will help supply trained staff through the AmeriCorps Tutors.  Education students from St. Vincent and  Seton Hill will be contacted to help, as they need hours of service in their field.

Club FRED is still in need of volunteers to help provide meals, help set up and clean up Fellowship Hall, distribute snacks to the students, work with  students, welcome families for dinner, and volunteer to eat with children who have no family in attendance.  The positive impact you can have on a child by simply giving some time and being a positive adult role model can be life changing!
